Welcome to Environment Omaha!
The goal of this project is to create an Environmental Element for the City of Omaha's master plan. There are five content areas - the Natural Environment, Urban Form & Transportation, Building Construction, Resource Conservation and Community Health. Work is nearing completion on the Natural Environment content area, the first to be studied. The Natural Environment Advisory Committee has drafted a Natural Environment document, which is being reviewed by the Environment Omaha Core Committee and project consultants from the Rocky Mountain Institute. The final Natural Environment draft document will be posted on this site later this summer, and public comment will be sought at that time. Work on the next content area - Urban Form & Transportation - is under way. An information open house for the general public was held April 30 at the Durham Museum. A listening session was held in north Omaha May 18 in conjunction with the Empowerment Network. Additional listening sessions are being planned in north Omaha and south Omaha. If you'd like to participate, call 402.554.4010.
Thanks for taking part in the creation of a more sustainable Omaha. Questions? Contact the Environment Omaha team via our Contact Us page.
